Recipe Spicy Thai Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow Gai)

  • 500 grams of boneless chicken, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red chili peppers, sliced
  • 1 green chili pepper, sliced (optional for extra heat)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar


  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and chili peppers. Stir-fry for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to high and add the sliced chicken. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir well to coat the chicken evenly.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium and add the fresh basil leaves. Stir-fry for another minute until the basil leaves are wilted.
  6. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
