Ingredients:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  5. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place three lasagna noodles on top. Spread a third of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the meat sauce. Repeat these layers two more times, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top layer of meat sauce. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
