Recipe: Indian Chicken Tikka Masala

  1. 500 grams of boneless chicken, cut into pieces
  2. 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  3. 1 large onion, finely chopped
  4. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  6. 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  7. 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  8. 1 teaspoon turmeric
  9. 1 teaspoon paprika
  10. 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  11. 1 can (400ml) tomato puree
  12. 200 ml heavy cream
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)


  1. In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger, sauté until the onions are translucent.
  2. Add the ground cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, and chili powder. Stir well for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the pan, and cook until all sides are browned.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree, stirring well to combine all ingredients. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, and season with salt. Simmer for another 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
