Recipe For Cider-Braised Pork Shoulder

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds of bone-in pork shoulder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 cups of apple cider
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 1 cup of chicken broth

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the pork shoulder and sear on all sides until golden brown.
  5. Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.
  6. In the same pot, add the sliced onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.
  7. Add the apple cider, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze.
  8. Add the rosemary, thyme, and chicken broth.
  9. Return the pork shoulder to the pot, cover it, and transfer it to the oven.
  10. Braise for about 2 hours or until the pork is tender.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
