Chicken Jalfrezi Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and cook until they start to sizzle about 1 minute.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and ginger pastes, and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  4. Add the cubed chicken, turmeric powder, ground coriander, chili powder, and salt. Cook for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. Add the bell pepper and tomatoes to the skillet. Mix well and cook for another 5-6 minutes, until the vegetables are tender but still retain their crunch.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala over the chicken mixture and give it a final stir.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
