Recipe for Brown Sugar and Pineapple Glazed Ham

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 2 hours

Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

Servings: 12

  • 1 (8-10 lbs) bone-in ham, fully cooked
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup coarse-grain mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 (20 oz) can pineapple rings, drained and juice reserved
  • 2 tablespoons pineapple juice (from the can)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 15-20 whole cloves (optional)
  • Maraschino cherries, for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Position the ham with the fat side facing up on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. If desired, use a sharp knife to score a diamond pattern on the surface of the ham, creating cuts about 1/4 inch deep.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the brown sugar, coarse-grain mustard, honey, pineapple juice, ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to create a luscious glaze.
  3. Generously coat the ham with the brown sugar-pineapple glaze, making sure to cover all sides.
  4. Optionally, decorate the ham with whole cloves by inserting them into the diamond-shaped cuts. Position the pineapple rings around and atop the ham, securing them with toothpicks.
  5. Roast the ham for approximately 2 hours, or until an instant-read thermometer indicates an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with pan juices every 30 minutes to maintain moisture.
  6. Upon reaching the desired temperature, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  7. If desired, garnish with maraschino cherries and serve warm alongside your choice of side dishes.
